Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
I’m sure when I was young, I asked this slightly annoying question whenever we went on a road trip, vacation or even just to the store.
As a child we want immediate gratification, ok even as adults we can lose our patience, but we as adults we have the mental capacity and adult behavior to not at least say “Are there yet?” 10 seconds into the trip.
Now, I’m the proud father and my kids have said this to my wife and I all the time, even when we’re still pulling out of the driveway. I’m not kidding.
The question that had been asked with such excitement at the start of the trip was repeated over and over with hope that we would get the answer we were looking for “We’re Here!”. To us parents or siblings “Are we there yet?” can be quite annoying. We just couldn’t wait to get to our destination and then, but eventually get back home.
That’s how we’re all feeling now, isn’t it? We want to put this crisis behind us—and soon.
But as much as we might want life to be different, we need to be prepared for the long haul. And truthfully, none of us knows how long that will be.
It is unknown. We’re in unchartered water. We’re in unprecedented times.
Based on assessments of millions of investors, employees, business owners and executives, we’ve found that 90% of the problems we face are unknown.
With greater responsibility comes more of the unknown. The problems we face today are not only unknown or vague, because as of today there is no vaccine, but the stakes have never been higher as a cavillation, which could only compare to a global war.
With so much pressure on all of us, leaders need the fortitude to pause and reflect within the unknown.
No one can see the road ahead, but we’ll find our way through this, just as others have done before us.
In summary, we will come out of this. Around the world, the governments, private industry, and America as a whole is moving mountains to address this Coronavirus, COVID-19. We had a strong economy in the U.S. going into this Health crisis and it will help in the recovery process. The “New World Order” will certainly be different and as human beings we be different as well.
Until Next Time…
